Direct Care Support Staff
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or higher education required. One year’s experience working with teenage children in a group setting. Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
AVAILABLE SHIFTS: Part-time weekdays and weekends
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Reports to the Executive Director. Annual evaluation conducted by the Executive Director.
· Provides the direct supervision of our eight(8) teen boy residents at all times.
· Maintains and assists the residents in completion of their household chores, laundry, clean and orderly bedrooms, making beds daily, living space, common areas, general maintenance, personal care, meal preparation, grocery & supply shopping, social & recreational activities, transportation services, etc.
· Maintains the residential building, vehicles, tools, equipment, etc. in a safe, functional, and secure manner conducive to the residents’ physical well-being.
· Assists staff with intakes/assessments, release/discharge, crisis management, de-escalation, and family support for a resident when needed.
· Reports observations of resident involvement in the youth’s daily record and other program required documentation.
· Due to the 24/7 operations of a residential facility, facility emergencies, the time of day of fundraising events, extended meetings, etc., the schedule will need to be flexible and may exceed the normal scheduled hours from time to time. Must be able to work flexible hours, work during the week, holidays, and work on weekends if needed.
· Responsible for transporting residents to and/or from public school in company-owned 15-passenger van. Residents attend local middle and high schools.
· Conduct personal and room searches according to agency policy and procedures.
· Conduct and administer drug and alcohol test.
· Conduct fire & tornado drills monthly according to regulations and agency policies & procedures.
· Presence and input may be requested in the monthly treatment team meeting.
· Required to attend and participate as a team member in monthly staff meetings.
· Required to attend and complete agency mandatory staff training through classroom instruction, web-based training, etc. Attend in-service education programs, conferences, or continuing education to maintain current knowledge of developments within the field.
· May collect, analyze, aggregate, and provide quarterly outcome reports to the PQI/CQI committee with recommendations for improvements.
· Assist residents in the expression and fulfillment of their needs within the guidelines established in the facility policies to provide growth and self-sufficiency.
· Provide crisis intervention strategies as prescribed in the policies and procedures for treatment/support, as necessary.
· Responsible in accordance with policies and procedures for handling emergency situations. Responsible for keeping emergency equipment and medical supplies functional and updated.
· Assist in crisis intervention using agency approved de-escalation techniques and conduct CPR/first aid as needed in accordance with policy and procedure.
· Participates in the implementation of youths’ individual service plans.
· Supports and follows all policies and procedures, as well as complying with all applicable state regulations.
· Supervises and administers the taking of medications in accordance with policies and procedures governing medication administration.
· Assists in managing the relationships with residents, visitors, families, and staff by responding promptly and responding with tact & sensitivity.
· Demonstrate a professional, courteous, cooperative, and positive attitude with residents, visitors, families, and staff.
· Maintains strict standards of confidentiality and professional conduct.
· Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of staff office and common area prior to the end of shift to allow the next shift to walk into a clean and organized space.
· Assist and participate in all activities for the boys that are for medical purposes, educational purposes, offered by volunteers, the community, etc.
· Document all scheduled vacation days, activities, and appointments on a shared calendar that can be viewed by all employees and the Board of Directors of My Friend’s House Family & Children’s Services.
· Expected to attend the main fundraising event annually according to work schedule.
· Assist in maintaining vehicles’ checklists and maintenance.
· If the position requires a corporate credit card, good standings are required with the card at all times. Please always keep the card in your personal possession and never allow another employee to use your corporate credit card. The card will be individually issued in your name and is your responsibility.
· May require some travel in personal vehicle.
· May require some lifting.
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Part-time Weekdays and Weekends
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
